60 Minutes to Air Story on Online Poker Scandal

Television, 2008-11-26, by Ozone

The online poker cheating scandal that took place last year will finally be brought to light on the CBS television program 60 Minutes this Sunday. Presumably, the story will maintain focus on an incident at Absolute Poker in which a "superuser" (a player who can see everyone's hole cards) took millions of dollars off of customers in high stakes games.

It will be interesting to see if the segment indicts online poker as a whole, or if it makes a distinction between illegal U.S.-facing operators and publicly traded sites like Party Poker who do not service U.S. customers since doing so would put their shareholders in legal jeopardy.

In wake of the scandal, Absolute Poker did make restitution to the players effected by the cheating. 60 Minutes airs Sunday at 7 p.m. local time in most of the U.S.

Party Poker does not accept real-money players from the United States.
